Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20/09/2026
We love dogs. We also love privacy.
So, while your dog may be perfectly happy to share absolutely everything with us (including their snacks, favourite sleeping position and questionable life choices), we take your personal data a little more seriously.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Woofkes collects through our website, why we collect it, how we use it and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and applicable Belgian data protection law.
Who's behind the leash?
The data controller responsible for your personal data is Woofkes, registered company number BE1040.472.676.
If you have any questions about your personal data, privacy or anything else covered by this policy, you can contact me at muriel@woofkes.com.
Newsletter
If you choose to sign up to our newsletter or ask to hear about our events, we collect:
-
your email address;
-
your communication preferences, where applicable.
We use your email address to:
-
send you our newsletter;
-
tell you about upcoming events and activities at [DOG BAR NAME];
-
occasionally share news, offers or other information relating to the dog bar;
-
contact you when you have specifically asked us to do so.
You don't have to give us your email address. Your dog won't judge you if you don't. You can also unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in our emails. We may use a third-party email service to send our newsletters.
Cookies
Yes, even websites have treats.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are essential for the website to work; others are optional and are only used with your consent where required by law.
-
your email address;
-
your communication preferences, where applicable.
Some cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function properly.
They may be used to:
-
keep the website secure;
-
make the website function correctly;
-
remember your cookie preferences;
-
provide a function you have specifically requested.
Because these cookies are necessary for the website to work, they may be used without your prior consent where permitted by applicable law.
Other cookies and similar technologies may come from services that we use on the website.
For example, we may embed YouTube videos.
Where these technologies are not strictly necessary, we will only activate them after you have given the required consent.
You can say no to optional cookies without being denied access to the rest of our website.
Who gets your data?
Depending on how our website operates, your data may be processed by trusted service providers such as:
-
Wix, which provides the website hosting and technical platform;
-
our newsletter provider;
-
our IT or website maintenance provider;
-
providers of third-party content, such as YouTube/Google, where you have given the required consent.
Where applicable, these providers process your data on our behalf and under appropriate data protection arrangements.
We may also disclose personal data where required by law or by a competent public authority.
How long do we keep your data?
We don't keep your data forever. Unlike your dog, who may remember the one time you forgot their favourite treat for approximately 17 years.
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
For newsletter subscribers, your email address will generally be kept until:
-
you unsubscribe;
-
you withdraw your consent; or
-
we no longer have a legitimate reason to keep your subscription.
We may retain limited information where necessary to demonstrate that consent was given or withdrawn, or where we have a legal obligation to do so.
Other information may be retained for longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have rights concerning your personal data.
Depending on the circumstances, these include the right to:
-
access your personal data;
-
correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
-
request deletion of your personal data;
-
request restriction of processing;
-
object to certain processing;
-
withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent;
-
